Schools across the country face ongoing pressure to raise test scores and bring all students up to high standards. In examining the characteristics of schools that have made significant gains, researchers have verified what most educators already know to be true: the quality of the relationships within a school community makes a difference.
The Growth Through Connections Teacher Training Program engages educators in deep reflections on unpacking barriers and bias to rediscover the tremendous joy of truly connecting with learners.
Each day educators tirelessly employ strategies and curriculum to fidelity that has limited impact on closing the opportunity gap, because the human aspect has become second to test scores. This program works first on fostering a deep understanding of how to create authentic relationships with learners, and how to creatively teach the Common Core State Standards with rigor and excitement that will foster a love of learning each day.
In addtion to training sessions participating teachers will receive:
One on one coaching in your classroom from an experienced student relationship coach
Weekly planning sessions to continue the implementation of the common core standards through relationship building with students
Paid $1,000 stipend for implementation and continued teaching on staff
